They deserve many thanks!" <a href="http://www.4m3d.com/from-start-to-finish/2010/9/15/the-redesign-of-a-military-symbol.html">Click to read the full post.&nbsp;</a></p>]]></content></entry><entry><title>Old Fashioned Flatbed Truck - 3D Clipart</title><category term="Clipart Models"/><category term="VA3D Collection"/><id>http://www.4m3d.com/whatsnew/2010/5/18/old-fashioned-flatbed-truck-3d-clipart.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.4m3d.com/whatsnew/2010/5/18/old-fashioned-flatbed-truck-3d-clipart.html"/><author><name>Todd</name></author><published>2010-05-18T12:12:43Z</published><updated>2010-05-18T12:12:43Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-CA"><![CDATA[<p>It happens often that I am asked to model objects that hold a very important place in the hearts of my customers.&nbsp; This kind of project&nbsp;is challenging in many ways; the most&nbsp;being the balance between the important details in the model (that&nbsp;customer has identified)&nbsp;and the machineability of the finished model.<br /><br />In most cases this means leaving out some of the small details in order&nbsp;to not confuse the overall feel of the model.&nbsp; Most customers would rather leave out things that won't machine at the finished size of the model or, if they do machine, they are not clear.&nbsp; I find that also the&nbsp;exaggeration of certain customer required details is necessary in order to have the finished part something we both can be proud of.<br /><br />This model of an Old Fashioned Flatbed Truck is a great example.&nbsp; The customer was very happy with <br />the final part and happily let it be sold as 3D clipart so others could us it in their projects.<br /><br />Below is the image the customer submitted;&nbsp;

Seeing as many of them are at the top of their field, the products are spectacular, and make me proud to be part of their process.</p>
<p>Joe Winslow, <a href="http://regimentalsigns.com/index.html">Regimental Sign Company</a>, is one of these special companies.  Joe and I have been working together for a few years now and I always look forward with him.</p>

I was most interested in the Stainless Steel version.<br /><br /></span><span class="MsgBodyText">The Black Detailed and Stainless Steel prints look great while the other, well, lets just say this was a test.<br /><br />Not only was I interested in the print quality, detail and finish I also wanted to test to see if I could make a moving part in one print. The two round ends are connected wit a single oval jump ring.<br /><br />Using the tolerance mentioned in the material specs I was so happy to see that it works!<br /><br />I can't wait to design my next part and have it printed!<br /><br /></span>

<p>This one is based on an old farm style windmill. It is a high detailed model that includes the small things like the bolts that hold the tower together.</p>
<p>This&nbsp;would be a perfect icon to have machined onto an entrance sign for a farm or as an element in a mantel scene.</p>
